I'm so sick of people saying that trump supporters are unreachable.

I believe only the abusers who revel in cruelty are MOSTLY unreachable.
I was taught that black men hide in sewers to rape little white girls like me. I was 5 years old.
I've been violently raised to hate people that don't look like me. I was indoctrinated w pain & emotional abuse. I was tortured & brainwashed to believe that people who are not white have no right to life.
It's taken my adult life, going no contact w my family, & seeking therapy to become healthy.
But I did it. I am proof. I've come from deeply racist to antiracist.
This doesn't happen if people on the left make no room for people to whom equality teachings are new.
We won't attract anyone by vilifying them.
We can't reach out w a hot poker.
We need to make a new line.
It's not red vs blue.
It's not left vs right.
It's not rich vs poor.
It's abusers versus the rest of us.
For people stuck in systems of abuse this lens is muddy.
They can't see outside of their systems of abuse. We have to help them come away from racism, misogyny, & bigotry and hate.
They need help, not contempt. They need a hand up not a boot to the face. They need a welcome worthy of ANYONE who stands up against abuse but even more so for them.
Because resistance against abuse for them also means their friends & family might be on the wrong side Of the right choice, leaving them alone.
Chosen family is the strongest!
We can all be one family whose values are anti -abuse in every expression it seeks.
One fight.
One source.
One solution.
Stop abuse. Protect the vulnerable.
