Stories to tell our orphans What story do you want tonight kids? ohhhh, in unison, the "Buy Now" button! ok kids, here it goes, a long time ago, before the collapse you could get anything you could even think of - and even find things you didn’t even know you needed!
And it would all come to you the next day! A fellow would drive up and open the back of his truck and out would come the packages - 2 & 3 at a time! They would bound up the stairs and shout “Special Delivery” and we would come out to see what it was! Because we had bought so much we would forget what was coming and it was like a second surprise! What? Oh the trucks? Well, trucks were these big carts that ran on oil & they were zippy fast & could get to just about anywhere! We all had our own cars back then. Just like trucks but we drove them all over.
You know if we wanted a snack or a toy or something you couldn’t get on the “Buy Now Button” we would get in our cars and boy howdy would they go! Just wherever you wanted! What’s that? The collapse? Well, it was really easy to forget all that was going on you see because each day there was a new package! We would read the instruction manual & learn all he beeps & buzzers it had. I guess all those new shiny things kept us busy. Oh that? Yeah, I suppose it was hard to ignore all the animals washing up on shore & the birds dropping out of the sky.
But you see we had new things every day that kept us busy busy and by the time it was too late nobody had listened enough to the scientists! Well, nobody but people like us. In Unison “Vegetarians!” Oh sweeties, it wasn’t just about meat.
It was that we made choices to help our fellow man before it was too late. We stopped lots of harmful things. That’s right, we sold our second car & we stopped doing all the things the commercials told us to do that kept us from noticing the collapse.
We tried every day to do what we could in the smallest of ways, to make a difference. What’s that? Why didn’t it change anything? Well, I guess there were too many people piled high w new packages to notice & by the time it was too late there was nothing to be done.
I guess they learned in the end that if you can’t eat it or if it can’t keep you safe that it just doesn’t matter. Well children, stay warm tonight and bundle up close to each other so the night frost doesn’t burn you.
& tomorrow we will go deep into the ground so the sun doesn’t blind, burn, or kill us. I just hope that there is enough room when we get there so they let us in. Sweet dreams my loves.
